HSEQ Our License to Operate
Our aim is zero harm for people, assets and the environment. As a proud operator on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, we believe in giving back to society. Wintershall Dea is relentlessly focused on being a safe, responsible and ethical operator in Norway. We are unbending in our commitment to health, safety, the environment and quality (HSEQ), and regard the well-being of our staff and colleagues as our number one priority. We align closely with the Norwegian authorities to carry out our activities to the highest international standards of HSEQ, while always striving to become the best in class.
At Wintershall Dea, the safety of our employees, contractors and suppliers will always be our number one priority. We continuously manage the risk associated with our operations and ensure the best available technical and operating standards in the design of our installations. Our contractors and suppliers understand our commitment and work closely with us to apply the same rigorous standards of risk management to identify and mitigate safety concerns. Our employees, contractors and suppliers are empowered to stop operations based on safety considerations.
At Wintershall Dea we are committed to ensuring a healthy working environment for our people. We provide a balanced and inspiring working environment by paying attention to the conditions that influence our people’s welfare. Wintershall Dea strives at every location in Norway to provide a safe workplace free from fear of serious injury. We also create a high-quality professional environment in which people would choose to spend their working lives. We consider it vital to seek continuous improvement in occupational health not only among our employees but also among contracted and third-party personnel.
At Wintershall Dea in Norway we are strongly committed to environmental management. Our vision is to operate with zero harm to our environment. This is done by integrating environmental management and energy management in our planning and decision-making processes at all levels in the organisation. In 2017, we became the first gas and oil operator in Norway to be certified for Energy Management (ISO 50001). At the same time, we gained our Environmental Management certification (ISO 14001). Together, the two ISO standards help us reduce energy use and our environmental impact. We also focus on minimising ecological disturbance in our operations, paying particular attention not to harm sensitive habitats, and to preserving biological diversity. To achieve this, we apply low-impact technologies.
At Wintershall Dea we are committed to ensuring that all our activities are consistently planned, designed, operated and maintained to our high standards. We have established a business management system, defining expectations for identifying and managing quality, to ensure we meet these standards. The management system sets the minimum requirements for performance and provides guidance to Wintershall Dea employees and contractors in Norway on how to perform their work. The system also reflects our regulatory commitments. We are committed to continuously improving all our activities and processes to meet our quality goals.
