Special times require special formats: Wintershall Dea’s CEO Mario Mehren spoke with Vice President and Programme Director of the Offshore Northern Seas (ONS) conference, Ingvild Meland, in a video interview about Wintershall Dea’s developments and plans on the the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The ONS Energy Talks 2020 replace the conference this year that had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus.

In the interview with Ingvild Meland, Mario Mehren highlighted Wintershall Deas's confident handling of two challenging situations: "At the moment the industry is severely challenged by the coronavirus on the one hand and by very low oil and gas prices on the other.”

Since the merger in May 2019 the company has established itself worldwide as a reliable and versatile player. "It becomes more and more obvious that Wintershall Dea has done a very good job since Day One: This crisis is not hitting us as hard, as we have tackled new projects and optimized existing activities with a view to efficiency", Mehren says. For him the merger with DEA therefore came at the exact right time.

Mario Mehren also looked at the Norwegian Continental Shelf and promised exciting times: Nova and Dvalin, two technically demanding showcase projects, should go into production in the next 18 months. In addition, the company just made a promising discovery in the Bergknapp licence.

The ONS Foundation was forced at the end of April to cancel the conference planned for the start of September. That doesn’t mean, however, that the exchange between the participating companies and service providers cannot take place. Instead, Ingvild Meland is holding interviews this year via videostream with selected individuals from the sector.
